Join our community and be a part of something special

Everyone I meet seems to work from a place of compassion and cooperation - a true community!
— Mary Beth Mc.

Midtown Psychotherapy is a vibrant community of innovative clinicians and affiliated professionals.  We welcome serious inquiries from those looking for a professional home or seeking supervision for full clinical licensure.  We advocate for and support clinicians who desire to be entrepreneurs in private practice and operate independently and also value fostering a strong sense of cooperation, collaboration, and community. Goodness of fit is a primary consideration for any new tenants, supervisees or affiliates that we consider accepting as part of MPA.  We offer ongoing resources for consultation and supervision to those interested in developing a thriving private practice through the offering of outstanding clinical services.

For Licensed Clinicians and Professionals seeking to rent

Beautifully furnished office spaces available for terms of one day or more days a week.  Renters are represented on the website and in marketing and networking efforts and given preference for referrals as part of the therapeutic community.  Rental includes use of office space, waiting area with coffee and tea bar for clients, WiFi, kitchen and break area, professional library of books and journals, mailbox and free parking.  Monthly practice meetings and other community events offer opportunity for peer case consultation, education and networking within the group as well as with local, state and national agencies.  Renters receive generous discounts for participation in consultation groups and for group room rental.  We also maintain a large number of resources in shared Google Docs that are helpful for both clinical practice and for business development.

For Affiliates seeking community

For individuals who offer services virtually and don’t need a regular office space to rent, there is still an opportunity to be a part of the therapeutic community.  Affiliates will also be represented in marketing efforts including website and print media. Affiliate members will be given preference for appropriate referrals as part of the therapeutic community. Affiliate will be afforded the opportunity to attend community meetings and events alongside renters and post graduate supervisees. Benefits include being able to schedule use of an office space or group room up to 8 hours per month as available and utilize the physical address of Midtown Psychotherapy Associates for mail and package delivery. Consultation group at a reduced rate is also offered.  Affiliates are able to access shared Google Doc resources and use the professional library as needed.

If interested in becoming a Renter or Affiliate, the process is as follows:

E-mail us your professional resume and contact information along with an explanation of your needs. You’ll be contacted to set up a time to meet with Amy and Meg as well as with at least two additional clinicians.

MPA offers clinicians the tools and support to succeed, while at the same time greatly valuing and prioritizing each clinician’s individuality, autonomy, and unique career goals and clinical interests. I value the diversity on our team, that allows us to provide services to such a wide range of clientele. It’s comforting to know that if something is outside of my professional scope, there is often another clinician right within our community that can provide guidance or services.

My supervision experience at Midtown Psychotherapy was excellent. Dr. Amy Smith-Barnes and Meg McLeroy were able to offer a multi-faceted supervision experience, focused on clinical growth, professional identity development, and business development. Having this experience in my postdoctoral year gave me the foundation that I needed to grow as a private practitioner. I started with Midtown Psychotherapy as a postdoctoral fellow and then remained as an associate psychologist for five years. If my family and I had not decided to relocate, I believe I would still be practicing with this amazing group! I developed wonderful business relationships and friendships during my time there. The foundation that they provided allowed me to start my own group private practice and supervise two therapists. I honestly cannot think of one thing that I would change about my supervision and work experience at Midtown Psychotherapy. It was educational and fun, and I will always look back at my time there fondly.

As one of the first pre-clinical fellows to join MPA nearly 10 years ago, I can attest to the professional care and nurture I’ve received here over the years. I joined this practice as a budding therapist working toward my licensure, hungry to put my passion into practice, but also feeling certain that I needed direction, supervision and the guidance of more senior therapists who cared — not only about the trajectory of my professional career, but also about me, as a person. The collaboration and camaraderie of this practice is unparalleled. We embrace and acknowledge each other’s specialties and talents and encourage co-facilitation with clients, which allows us to offer truly comprehensive and well-rounded care. From the business aspect of fairly and ethically getting a private practice going from the ground up, to the warm atmosphere of practicing among trusted and valued colleagues - MPA feels as much like a family as it does a leader in innovative mental health. I’m lucky to have a thriving practice here and hope to continue the circle of nurturing new, budding therapists as we continue to grow!
