Historic Brookwood Exchange Building

Originally Constructed: 1919

Our clients tell us that one of the best things about coming to Midtown Psychotherapy is our location in the The Brookwood Exchange Building, conveniently located on Peachtree Street on the border of Midtown and Buckhead.  There is free and ample parking and there is no extra charge for soaking up some vitamin D while relaxing on our private terrace under the atrium!

The historical and unique Brookwood Exchange Building was thoroughly renovated in 1988 and 1989.  At this time, the basement was reclaimed and converted into the first floor, and a fifth story was created behind the original mansard roof.  The courtyard side of the original "U"-shaped structure was enclosed via the addition of a five-story atrium, creating a plaza at ground level.  The addition, like the original structure, was inspired by the architectural innovations of fin-de-siecle Vienna.  Offices open onto the plaza through French doors and windows.  Open corridors, secured by wrought iron and stained wooden railings, overlook the sun-filled atrium. Corridor and atrium floors are strikingly decorated with white and black tiles.

Formed in 2009 as a joint venture by Dr. Amy Smith Barnes and Meg McLeroy, LMFT, Midtown Psychotherapy Associates (MPA) was created to provide outstanding out-patient services and clinical care to individuals, couples and families.  As an integrative practice, we offer psychotherapy services, groups, adjunct wellness services, and resources for recovery.  We seek to address the health and well being of mind, body, and spirit for clients of all ages.

We strive to offer and maintain a variety and balance of specialties and interests within our community.  In addition to traditional psychotherapy, we also support nutrition education, yoga, art therapy, movement therapy, health coaching, acupuncture, and massage services.

Our clinicians are committed to the art and science of psychotherapy; bringing an enthusiasm and passion for clinical excellence combined with a commitment to evidence based practices and interventions.  Further, we advocate for and support clinicians who desire to be entrepreneurs in private practice and operate independently.

As a practice, we value fostering a strong sense of cooperation, collaboration, and community with each other.  We also work to cultivate relationships within the larger community of other mental health professionals, doctors, and agencies in order to maintain a network of trusted resources for the benefit of our clients.
